Miscellaneous Channel Functions
Using a Telephone Channel (Answer Hold, Phone Release, and Hook
Flash)
The
Answer Hold
,
Phone Release
, and
Hook Flash
buttons are operational for telephone
channels only. The Answer Hold button is used to connect the phone line and for placing
the line on hold. The Phone Release button is used to disconnect the phone line. While
connected (or off hook), field 7 of the phone channel module display indicates “TEL.”
While disconnected, (on hook) display field 6 is blank.
The hook flash button,
Hook Flash
is used to send a hook flash to the telephone system.
This button only operates when the phone channel is off hook.
Activating the Channel Main/Standby Output (Main/Stby)
For channels that have been configured for General main/standby operation, the
Main/
Stby
button allows you to toggle the state of the main/standby output for a channel. The
state of the output is shown in the channel module display.
Reviewing and Clearing ANI IDs (Review ANI)
When the console is called from a field unit using ANI (automatic number identification),
the unit number displays in field 4 of the channel display module (just below the “call”
indication). If your console is programmed for “reverse selective calling” (RSC type)
ANI, you can clear the ANI by pressing the
Review ANI
button. If more than one RSC
ANI has been received, the ANI identification displays a flashing “bullet” appended to the
ID. The
Review ANI
button removes the displayed ID and display the next ID. Up to 24
ANIs may be queued before being reviewed.
If your console is programmed for the PTT ID type ANI, the last six ANIs received is
kept. When an ANI is received in this mode, it is displayed for up to 5 seconds or until the
ANI call stops—whichever is longer.
All entries are placed in an ANI buffer, and can be reviewed by using the
Review ANI
button. As you press the
Review ANI
button, the next most recent ANI displays. When
you have exhausted the list, the display blanks. In this mode, nonemergency ANI displays
in green on a white background. Emergency ANI displays in red on a white background.
When an unreviewed emergency ANI is pending, the console generates a warning tone to
alert the operator. The tone stops when the last emergency ANI is reviewed. The tone is
interrupted when a call is received on any channel so that the call can be heard.
