4.1 Installation safety
WARNING!
General hazard
Installation and operating errors may result in personal injury and
material damage.
u
The system may only be installed and operated for the first time
by persons who have been authorized by Carl Zeiss Meditec.
WARNING!
Electrical hazard
The use of unsuitable power cables could result in electric shock.
u
Ensure that the power supply plug is suitable and certified for
the local connection.
u
Observe the following specifications when replacing the
supplied power cable:
- Protective earth conductor resistance maximum 0.1 Ohm
- Local certification of the power cable for connection to
medical devices
- Device plug C13 conforming to IEC 60320
- Cross-section at least 0.75 mm
2
/ AWG 18 ; Hospital Grade
design for specific countries (e.g. USA, Canada) (For cables >
2.5 m the cross-section must be increased to 1.5 mm²).
WARNING!
Electrical hazard from connecting additional devices
When connecting other system components to the instrument
table than those described, a non-rated medical-electrical system is
created in accordance with IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-1. There
is a risk of electrical shock.

Do not connect components other than the system compo-
nents described.
u
In case of system changes ensure that the safety requirements
of IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-1 are met.
u
Use the power supply connections of the instrument table only
for supplying power to the VISULAS green. Use of the power
supply connections as a multiple socket is prohibited.
WARNING!
Fire hazard from faulty electrical installation
Fire can occur due to faults in the electrical installation.
u
Ensure that the electrical installation conforms to
IEC 60364‑7‑710.
u
Ensure that the power consumption data on the type plate are
met when selecting overcurrent protection.
