Information on the X-ray tube
There are some procedures with regard to the X-ray tube that you can
or must perform yourself if required. They include the warm-up and fila-
ment alignment. Both processes are performed by means of the user
software. See Operating Instructions for METROTOM OS.
Conditions for manual execution:
Procedure
Condition
Warm-up
If problems with the X-ray tube occur, the warm-up should be started
manually.
Filament alignment
The filament is automatically aligned during the initialization after the
warm-up of the X-ray tube has been completed.
If the X-ray tube has been radiating for more than 10 hours and you
want to switch on the X-ray tube in the »Control Panel« window, the
»Filament alignment expired« warning is displayed in the »Event
Viewer« window.
In this case, you will have to manually start the filament alignment.

NOTE
During a warm-up, the voltage in the X-ray tube is increased in small
steps; the voltage is also called acceleration voltage. By increasing the
voltage slowly, the ionization effects in the cathode chamber are de-
creased; ionization effects are caused by impurities in the X-ray tube.
