RUNNING THE ENCODER
This section gives step-by-step instructions on HEVC/H.265 encoding with the Z3-DME-20 and streaming
2160p video to VLC media player running on your PC. In addition to the Z3-DME-20, an HD video source
with non-HDCP HDMI output and a PC with VLC media player are required. Encoding with an SDI source is
described in Sections 6.12 and 6.13.
Please Note:
Actual version numbers for your Z3 product may differ from those pictured in this document.
6.1
Set up the UHD Source
(1)
Select an HD source with HDMI output.
-Power on the UHD Source.
-Connect HDMI to a monitor.
-Set the UHD Source to 2160p output.
-If your source is a media player, select the content you would like to stream.
If you see playback on the monitor, you’ve confirmed the source works.
6.2
Connect and Power Up the Z3-DME-20

Connect the HDMI source to “HDMI In” on the rear panel of the encoder.

Connect an Ethernet cable from “Ethernet” on the back of the Z3-DME-20 to a switch, router or
other DHCP server on the same network as your Windows PC.
(4)
Connect the 12V power supply, and turn on the power switch. It will take 20-30 seconds to boot.
