Pins 1, 3, 5 and 7 carry +12V power from the encoder to the camera.
Pins 15 and 29 are ground and must always be connected.
Pins 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 and 28 are required for digital video transport.
Pin 30 is required only for analog composite video.
Pins 2, 4 and 8 are required for serial port control.
Pin 2 must connect directly between the encoder and camera.
Pin 4 on one side must connect to pin 4 on the other side with a resistor divider using pin 8 as ground, as
shown below. This is necessary because the Tamarisk camera will output serial data at RS232 levels, while
the FlexIO interface requires LVTTL.
The table below show the interface signal between the DRS Tamarisk camera with feature board and the Z3
FlexIO interface header. Please note that pin 4 must not be connected directly.

Figure 5: Resistor Divider for Tamarisk Serial Control
Do not connect pin 4 directly as the high voltage of the RS232 interface will strain and may damage the ESD
protection diodes of the FPGA on the encoder.
The resistor divider circuit shown above must be inserted between pin 4 of the encoder and pin 4 of the
Tamarisk camera.
