7.8.2. Working with the Discharge Measurement Summary
The Summary is designed to be informative, easy to use, and display the data in exactly the same
format as it is entered. There are several fields for the entry of site and measurement specific
data. These fields (shown with a line underneath them) are for user inputs such as Date, Station
Number, and Station Name. To enter data, click the field and type in the information.
If the report is too large for the monitor on your computer, use the vertical scrollbar on the right
to move the report up and down.
7.8.3. Printing the Discharge Measurement Summary
The Summary is designed for printing to a paper copy and storing with measurement records.
The Summary will print in the same format as it appears on the screen.
As the report is an HTML file, the print settings used for the report can be found in Internet Ex-
plorer. To adjust the margins and headers/footers of the printout, open Internet Explorer and se-
lect
File|Page Setup
from the menu.
Typical settings for printing the Summary are as follows:

Header – leave blank
•
Footer – leave blank
•
Margins (left/top/right/bottom) – 0.2 inch
7.8.4. Sample Procedure for Creating a Discharge Measurement Summary
•
Collect a series of discharge measurement transects (typically two pairs of measurements).
•
Select
File|Export|Discharge Report (Ctrl+T)

•
Select the discharge measurement data files to be used in the report using the
Select Files
dialog box (

•
Enter the relevant information into the empty fields in the Summary report (
).
•
Select the
Diagnostic Files
for
Moving Bed Test
,
Compass Cal
,
Pressure Cal
, and
Depth Cali-
bration

).
•
Enter any
Comments
about the measurement at the bottom of the report.
•
Check for values that are not constant from transect to transect. These values are displayed
with an asterisk (*). These values are not results, but rather system configuration options
and settings.
•
Check transects that vary significantly (more than 5%) from the mean. These transects are
displayed in italics.
•
Print a “hard” copy of the report (
button). Note: If you are in the field, you can print
the report to an Adobe Acrobat .pdf file.
•
Save the report (
Save
button) to a .dms file (Discharge Measurement Summary). This file
may be loaded using the
Load Summary
.
