Note
•
The VB8300 employs Linux as its operating system.
•
If you turn OFF the main power switch when the VB8300 is running, the VB8300 terminates
abnormally. When the power is turned ON the next time, the startup procedure may take
longer than usual.
•
If the power plug comes loose when the VB8300 is running and you restart the VB8300, it starts
up using the settings that existed when the VB8300 was powered down correctly the last time.
•
If the power cord comes loose while the internal hard disk is being accessed, the VB8300
may malfunction.
•
Allow at least 10 s when turning ON the power after setting the VB8300 in the standby state.
•
If the VB8300 does not carry out the power-up procedure explained on the previous page
when the power is turned ON, set the standby power switch to the standby state and turn the
main power switch OFF. Then, check the following items.
•
Check that the power cord is connected securely (see section 3.3).
•
Check tat the voltage supplied to the power outlet is within the permitted voltage range
(see section 3.3).
If the VB8300 still does not work properly when the power is turned ON according to the
previous page after checking these items, contact your nearest YOKOGAWA dealer for repairs.
•
To initialize all settings to their factory default, press the SHIFT + PRESET (INITIALIZE) key.
For details, see section 12.3.
Generating Signals with High Accuracy
• Allow the instrument to warm up for at least 30 minutes after turning ON the power switch.
• Perform a calibration (see section 12.1) after warm-up.
Turning the Power Switch OFF
Setting the Standby Power Switch to the Standby Position and the Standby Procedure
• Setting the Standby Power Switch to the Standby Position
Push the standby power switch on the front panel to return it to the standby position.
The standby position is illustrated in the figure in “Turning the Standby Power Switch
ON” on the previous page.
• Standby Procedure
The shutdown procedure starts. The upper left section of the screen shows a window
indicating that the VN8300 is shutting down. After approximately 20 seconds, the
VB8300 display turns OFF and the VB8300 enters the standby state.
Message box shown during
the shutdown procedure
Note
When you set the VB8300 in the standby state, the setup data existing at that time is saved to
the setup data backup area on the internal hard disk. When the standby power switch is
turned ON the next time, the VB8300 starts up using the settings stored in the backup area.
Turning the Main Power Switch OFF
Press the OFF side of the main power switch on the rear panel.
Check that the standby power switch on the front panel is in the standby position, and press the
OFF o) side of the main power switch on the rear panel. The power to the VB8300 turns OFF.
Note
•
If you are not using the instrument, turn OFF all power switches according to the procedures
given in “Turning the Power Switch OFF.”
•
A lithium battery is used to hold the setup data concerning the VB8300 startup. When the lithium
battery voltage falls below a certain level, the message code 880 is displayed on the screen (see
section 14.2) when the power is turned ON. If the lithium battery voltage is low, it must be replaced
quickly. The user cannot replace the lithium battery. Contact your nearest YOKOGAWA to have the
battery replaced. For information regarding battery life, see section 14.6.
