Intrinsic Safety Explosion Protection of IEC Standard
A2BN5D base plate for barrier
A2BN5D base plate for barrier can be connected to the I.S. equipment installed in the hazardous
area with explosion-proof wiring and can be installed in Zone 2 by mounting in a keyed metal
cabinet with protection rating of IP54 or higher as shown in the following figures. Please refer to
the instruction manual of P+F I.S. barriers for installation of I.S. barriers.

Wiring of Intrinsic Safety Explosion Protection
An intrinsic safety circuit must be isolated from non-intrinsic safety circuit. Wiring should be
prepared in accordance with IEC 60079-14, or the standard of the country and the area in which
it is set. In regards to the further wiring than the base plate for barrier (A2BN5D), take notice that
it should be an intrinsic safety circuit. The wiring in cabinet should keep the distance to non-
intrinsic safety circuit.
After setting, check the wiring according to the checklist described in IEC 60079-17.
Parameter of Intrinsic Safety
Please refer to the P+F’s instruction manual of I.S. barriers installed in the base plate for barrier
(A2BN5D) for the parameter of Intrinsic Safety.
