9.4. Fasten the levelling bolts
Tighten the lock nuts on the four levelling bolts at the corners of the machine.
Note
Each work done in this section varies widely by individual worker (degree of exerting force, audible
check, etc.). To ensure consistent results, be sure that the same worker performs the steps in this
section throughout.
Check the footing of the leveling bolts.
Use a 46mm spanner to apply minimum rotational force (clockwise) on the nut part of one of the leveling
bolts. Confirm that the leveling bolt won’t rotate. Do the same for the remaining leveling bolts.
Note
DO NOT actually rotate the leveling bolts. The machine horizontal level will change. Note that
when the footing of the machine is not secure, the leveling bolt can rotate with light force. In this
case, rotate the levelling bolt a little to foot to the floor.
Tighten the lock nuts on the levelling bolts.
Use two 46mm spanners to tighten the lock nut while holding the nut part of the leveling bolt as shown in
the below right figure. Tightening torque shall be 700 N·m.
Note
When the lock nut is fastened, the machine height will be raised by the amount of leveling bolt
backlash (approx. 0.5 mm).
Set two 46mm spanners on the upper
and lower nuts respectively.
1 Fix the below spanner.
2 Rotate the upper
spanner in the
direction of arrow to
tighten the lock nut.
Apply minimum rotational force
to secure the footing.
