ADJUSTING THE DRIVE CHAIN SLACK
1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Spin the rear wheel several times and find the
tightest position of drive chain.
3. Check:
•
drive chain slack

Out of specification

Adjust.
4. Adjust:
• drive chain slack
a. Loosen the wheel axle nut

b. Loosen the locknut

and the adjusting nut

c.
Turn the adjusting nuts
3
from both vehicle
sides, in one of the following directions until the
specified position is obtained.
The drive chain slack must be checked at the
tightest point on the chain.
NOTE:
Securely support the vehicle so that there is no
danger of it falling over.

A drive chain that is too tight will overload the
engine and other vital parts, and one that is too
loose can skip and damage the swingarm or
cause an accident. Therefore, keep the drive
chain slack within the specified limits.
CAUTION:
Drive chain slack
25 ~ 35 mm (0.98 ~ 1.38 in)
Place the vehicle on a suitable stand so that the
rear wheel is elevated.
