Engine oil and oil filter
element
The engine oil level should be checked
regularly. In addition, the oil must be
changed and the oil filter element re-
placed at the intervals specified in the
periodic maintenance chart.

In order to prevent clutch slip-
page (since the engine oil also
lubricates the clutch), do not
mix any chemical additives. Do
not use oils with a diesel speci-
fication of “CD” or oils of a high-
er quality than specified. In
addition, do not use oils labeled
“ENERGY CONSERVING II” or
higher.
Make sure that no foreign mate-
rial enters the crankcase.
To check the engine oil level
1. Start the engine, warm it up for
several minutes, and then turn it
off.
2. Wait a few minutes until the oil lev-
el settles and with the vehicle on a
level surface, hold it upright for an
accurate reading.
3. Look at the check window located
at the bottom-right side of the
crankcase.
TIP
The engine oil should be between the
minimum and maximum level marks.
4. If the engine oil is at or below the
minimum level mark, remove the
oil filler bolt and add oil.
5. Check the engine oil filler bolt
O-ring. Replace if damaged.
6. Install the engine oil filler bolt.
To change the engine oil (and filter)
1. Start the engine, warm it up briefly,
and then turn it off.
2. Place an oil pan under the engine
to collect the used oil.
3. Remove the engine oil filler bolt,
and then the engine oil drain bolt
and gasket.

1.20 L (1.27 US qt, 1.06 Imp.qt)
With oil filter removal:
1.30 L (1.37 US qt, 1.14 Imp.qt)
