FRONT FORK

6. Remove:
• Outer tube
a. Hold the front fork leg horizontally.
b. Securely clamp the fender bracket in a
vise with soft jaws. Put cloth between
vise jaws.
c. Separate the outer tube from the inner
tube by pulling the outer tube forcefully
but carefully.
NOTICE
ECA19880
• Excessive force will damage the bushings.
Damaged bushings must be replaced.
7. Remove:
(from inner tube)
• Inner tube bushing “1”
• Outer tube bushing “2”
• Washer “3”
• Oil seal “4”
• Oil seal clip “5”
• Dust seal “6”
8. Remove:
• Damper rod assembly bolt “1”
• Copper washer “2”
• Damper rod assembly
TIP
• Securely clamp the fender bracket in a vise
with soft jaws.
• Loosen the damper rod assembly bolt “1” by
using 8mm T-handle “3”.

CHECKING THE FRONT FORK LEGS
The following procedure applies to both of the
front fork legs.
1. Check:
• Inner tube
• Outer tube
• Bends/damage/scratches
→
Replace.
WARNING
EWA13650
Do not attempt to straighten a bent inner
tube as this may dangerously weaken it.
2. Measure:
• Fork spring free length “a”
Out of specification
→
Replace.
