Defective ignition coil.
Measure the primary coil resis-
tance of the ignition coil.
Refer to “CHECKING THE IG-
NITION COIL” on page 8-132.
Replace if out of specification.
Start the engine and let it idle for
approximately 5 seconds.
Check the condition of the fault
code using the malfunction
mode of the Yamaha diagnostic
tool.
Condition is “Recover”
→
Go to
item 7 and finish the service.
Condition is “Malfunction”
→
Go
to item 6.

Malfunction in ECU.
Execute the diagnostic mode.
(Code No. 30)
No spark
→
Replace the ECU.
Refer to “REPLACING THE
ECU (Engine Control Unit)” on
page 8-128.
Service is finished.

Delete the fault code and check
that the engine trouble warning
light goes off.
Confirm that the fault code has
a condition of “Recover” using
the Yamaha diagnostic tool, and
then delete the fault code.

and then check the condition of
the fault code using the mal-
function mode of the Yamaha di-
agnostic tool.
