1. Remove the shroud. Refer to “SHROUD AND

2. Remove the right side cover. Refer to “SHROUD
AND COVERS”
3. Add electrolyte to the battery.

Do not overfill!
4. Charge the battery at the rate of 1.8 A for 10
hours.

NOTE:
Charge the battery to 1.320 specific gravity at 20 °C
(68 °F) before installation.
5. Install the battery.

7. Connect the battery leads.
CAUTION:
• First, connect the positive battery lead

then the negative battery lead

• Never hammer the battery terminals when
connecting the lead terminals to the battery.
• Make sure battery leads are connected prop-
erly. Reversing the leads can seriously dam-
age the electrical system.
