Operate the throttle levers several times to
make sure there is no hesitation in their

the complete range of motion, and each le-
ver should return completely to the idle po-

Look for loose or damaged connections of
the throttle and shift cables.

Engine oil
(1) Put the outboard motor in an upright po-
sition (not tilted).
NOTICE:
If the motor
is not level, the oil level indicated on
the dipstick may not be accurate.

(2) Remove oil dipstick and wipe it clean.
(3) Insert the dipstick and remove it again.
Be sure to completely insert the dipstick
into the dipstick guide, otherwise the oil
level measurement will be incorrect.
(4) Check the oil level using the dipstick to
be sure the level falls between the upper
and lower marks. Fill with oil if it is below
the lower mark, or drain to the specified
level if it is above the upper mark.
