DISASSEMBLING THE RECOIL STARTER

Remove:

• Recoil starter assembly

TIP

Make a knot “a” at the end of the starter rope to prevent
the rope from being retracted into the starter case.

Remove:

• Sheave drum “1”

Remove:

• Starter spring “1”

CHECKING THE RECOIL STARTER

Check:

• Starter rope “1”

Wear/damage



Replace.

• Starter spring “2”

Dirt



Clean and apply grease.

Wear/damage



Replace.

Check:

• Drive pawls “1”
• Drive plate “2”
• Springs “3”

Wear/damage



Replace.

Be sure to press down on the sheave drum, because
the spring will spring out suddenly when it is removed
from the sheave drum.
