For proper surround sound, make sure the speakers and
subwoofer are connected to this DVD receiver (see “Speaker
connections” on page 10).
■
Selecting surround sound
•
Press
SURR
repeatedly to select MULTI-CHANNEL
or STEREO.
The availability of the various surround sound modes
depends on the number of speakers used and the sound
available on the disc.
The center and surround speakers operate only in
multi-channel surround mode.
Stereo broadcasts or recordings produce some
surround channel effects when played in a surround
mode. However, mono (single channel sound) sources
do not produce any sound from the surround speakers.

Selecting digital sound effects
You can select preset digital sound effects that match
the content of your disc, or that optimize the sound of
the musical style you are playing.
•
Press
EFFECT
to select from the available sound
effects.
When playing back movie discs or while
in TV mode:
“CONCERT”, “DRAMA”, “ACTION” or “SCI-FI”.
When playing back music discs or in
TUNER, AUX or iPod mode:
“ROCK”, “DIGITAL”, “CLASSIC” or “JAZZ”.
– Digital sound effects and the treble/bass features
cannot be activated at the same time.
– For flat sound output, select “CONCERT” or
“CLASSIC”.

Adjusting the treble/bass level
The treble (high tone) and bass (low tone) features
enable you to define the sound-processor settings.

on the remote control.

Within five seconds, press
VOL (+/–)
to adjust the
treble or bass level (MIN, –2, –1, 0, +1, +2 or MAX).

If the
VOL (+/–)
is not adjusted within 5 seconds,
this DVD receiver automatically cancel the
adjustments.

Adjusting the volume
•
Use the
VOLUME
control on the front panel or press
VOL (+/–)
on the remote control to increase or
decrease the volume level.
→
“VOL MIN” appears at the minimum volume level
and “VOL MAX” appears at the maximum volume
level.
You can continuously increase or decrease the volume level if
you press and hold
VOL (+/–)
.

Muting the sound

Press
MUTE
on the remote control to mute the sound.
→
“MUTE” appears in the front panel display.

Press
MUTE
on the remote control again or press
VOL (+/–)
to resume the sound output.
