5000 Series Technical Supplement
CLASS-A/TXG Adjustment
Connect the 50-Ohm Dummy Load and Wattme-
ter to the “ANT 1” jack.
Rotate the [RF PWR] knob to fully clockwise.
Set the Main Band (VFO-A) frequency to 1.820
MHz in the CW-U mode.
Press and hold in the [1(1.8)], [2(3.5)], and [3(7)]
keys, while turning the radio on, to enter the
alignment mode.
Rotate the (VFO-A)[SELECT] knob to select the
alignment parameter “27-01 CLA1.8.”
Rotate the (VFO-B)[SELECT] knob so that the
VFO-B frequency display shows “0.”
Press the PTT switch without microphone input,
then rotate the (VFO-B)[SELECT] knob for 75 W
(±5 W) on the Wattmeter.
Release the PTT switch.
Perform the same procedures for the Alignment
Menus “27-02 CAL3.5” through “27-10 CAL50.”
Press and hold in the [MENU] button for 2 sec-
onds to save the new setting and exit from the
alignment mode.
Press and hold in the [MENU] button for 2 sec-
onds to save the new setting and exit from the
alignment mode.
Class-A TX GAIN (CAR) Adjustment
Connect the 50-Ohm Dummy Load and Wattme-
ter to the “ANT 1” jack, then set the METER
switch to the "ALC" position.
Set the Main Band (VFO-A) frequency to 14.200
MHz in the CW-U mode.
Press and hold in the [1(1.8)], [2(3.5)], and [3(7)]
keys, while turning the radio on, to enter the
alignment mode.
Rotate the (VFO-A)[SELECT] knob to select the
alignment parameter “26-03 TCAR CLA.”
Press the PTT switch and rotate the (VFO-
B)[SELECT] knob for maximum deflection on the
ALC meter.
Press the [ENT] key, and then release the PTT
switch.
Press and hold in the [MENU] button for 2 sec-
onds to save the new setting and exit from the
alignment mode.
REV-ALC Adjustment
Connect the 100-Ohm Dummy Load and Watt-
meter to the “ANT 1” jack.
Press and hold in the [1(1.8)], [2(3.5)], and [3(7)]
keys, while turning the radio on, to enter the
alignment mode.
Rotate the (VFO-A)[SELECT] knob to select the
alignment parameter “28-01 RAC1.8.”
Rotate the (VFO-B)[SELECT] knob so that the
VFO-B frequency display shows “0.”
Press the PTT switch without microphone input,
then rotate the (VFO-B)[SELECT] knob for 160
W (±10 W) on the Wattmeter.
Release the PTT switch.
Perform the same procedures for the Alignment
Menus “d40 rAC” through “d49 rAC.”
Press and hold in the [MENU] button for 2 sec-
onds to save the new setting and exit from the
alignment mode.

AM TX GAIN (CAR) Adjustment

alignment parameter “26-02 TCAR AM.”
Rotate the (VFO-B)[SELECT] knob so that the
VFO-B frequency display shows “0.”
Press the PTT switch without microphone input,
then rotate the (VFO-B)[SELECT] knob for 75 W
(±5 W) on the Wattmeter.
Release the PTT switch.
Press the [ENT] key, and then release the PTT
switch.
