Hardware Installation Guide
1. Your new UPS may be used immediately upon receipt. However,
c h a r g i n g t h e
battery for at least 4-hours
is recommended to ensure t h a t t h e b a t t e r y ' s
maximum charge capacity is achieved. Charge loss may occur d u r i n g s h i p p i n g
and storage. T o r e c h a r g e the battery, plug the power cord i n t o t h e A C w a l l
outlet and turn the p o w e r switch on.
Note:
units will charge the
b a t t e r y with the power switch on or off.
2. W i t h t h e U P S o f f a n d u n p l u g g e d , c o n n e c t y o u r c o m p u t e r , m o n i t o r , a n d a n y
e x t e r n a l l y p o w e r e d d a t a s t o r a g e d e v i c e ( Z i p d r i v e , T a p e d r i v e , e t c…) i n t o
the b a t t e r y p o w e r supplied outlets.
DO NOT plug a laser printer, copier, space
heater, vacuum or other large electrical device into the UPS. The power
demands of these devices will overload and possibly damage the UPS.
3. To protect a fax, single line phone or modem, connect a t e l e p h o n e c a b l e f r o m
the w a l l jack outlet to the IN jack of the UPS. Connect a telephone cable from
the OUT j a c k t o the modem port on your computer. The OUT jack can be u s e d
to protect a single line t e l e p h o n e o r f a x m a c h i n e .
4. Plug the UPS into a 2 pole, 3 wire grounding receptacle (AC wall outlet). M a k e
s u r e t h e wall branch outlet is protected by a fuse or circuit b r e a k e r a n d d o e s
n o t s e r v i c e equipment with large inrush electrical demands (e.g. refrigerator,
copier, etc…). Note: DO NOT use extension cords, power or s u r g e s t r i p s o n t h e
input or the output of the UPS.
5. D e p r e s s t h e p o w e r s w i t c h t o t u r n t h e U P S o n . T h e p o w e r o n L E D i n d i c a t o r
w i l l illuminate and the UPS will “beep” once.
6. If an overload is detected, a n a u d i b l e a l a r m w i l l s o u n d a n d t h e U P S w i l l e m i t
o n e l o n g beep every 2.4 seconds. To correct this, turn the UPS o f f a n d u n p l u g a t
l e a s t o n e p i e c e o f e q u i p m e n t f r o m t h e b a t t e r y - p o w e r e d o u t l e t s . W a i t 1 0 -
seconds. M a k e s u r e t h e circuit breaker is depressed and then turn the UPS on.
7. Your UPS is equipped with an auto-charge feature (all units). W h e n t h e U P S i s
plugged into an AC wall outlet and there is an acceptable AC voltage present, t h e
b a t t e r y w i l l a u t o m a t i c a l l y r e c h a r g e .
8. T o m a i n t a i n o p t i m a l b a t t e r y c h a r g e , l e a v e t h e U P S p l u g g e d i n t o a n A C w a l l
outlet w i t h the power switch turned on at all times.
9. To store your UPS for an extended period, cover and store it with the battery
f u l l y charged. Recharge the battery every two months to maintain battery life.

seconds, replace the fuse with a fuse of

The UPS does not
supply expected
runtime.
