Appendix 1 Clock generator programming
The XtremeDSP Spartan-3A DSP Development Board features an Integrated Device Technology (IDT) 3.3-V
EEPROM programmable clock generator that allows you to program the board’s clocks. This appendix explains
how to use the IDT software to generate a combination of clock frequencies and implement them onto the
XtremeDSP Spartan-3A DSP Development Board with a Xilinx download cable and JTAG flying wires.
Installing the clock generator software
1.

3.
Unzip and install the software.
4.
At some point, you may be prompted to install the Java Runtime Environment. Install it.
5.
Follow the instructions on your screen to complete installation.
Generating an SVF file
When the IDT software is installed, use it to create an SVF file to program the clock chip of the XtremeDSP
Spartan-3A DSP Development Board.
To start the IDT program
1.
On the Windows
Start
menu, point to
IDT Programmable Clock
