Theory of Operation
Secondary Transfer (Belt --> Paper)
The complete toner image formed on the belt surface is transferred onto the paper
by the 2nd BTR (Second Bias Transfer Roll: Secondary Transfer Roll).
•
The 2nd BTR will contact the belt after the power is turned On. Because the L/
H Cover opening/ closing strength is reduced, it is kept away from the belt
during a jam, or when the power is turned Off.
•
During the transfer to the paper, the 2nd BTR contacts the Backup Roll (the
conductive roll at the inner side of the belt) through the belt to pinch the
paper that is being transported between the belt and the 2nd BTR.
•
The Backup Roll is charged with negative DC Voltage from the HVPS, forming
a transfer field with the grounded 2nd BTR that transfers the completed toner
image on the belt onto the paper.
