Initial commissioning
Note
A warm-up period of 1 hour is recommended for the infrared lamp prior
to starting up the equipment for the first time.
Attention
The reaction vessel light source emits ultraviolet light during operation.
Direct exposure may lead to eye injury. Only operate the UV lamp with
the shield mounted on the reaction vessel. Never operate the UV lamp
outside of the reaction vessel.
Warning
The oxidation reagent contains sodium persulfate. The reagent is cor-
rosive and irritates skin and eyes. Avoid any contact when handling the
reagent. Wear suitable protective gloves and goggles.
Carry out the following steps when starting up the equipment for the
first time:

Fill the reactor with sodium persulfate through the gas exit port
in the reactor cover (2) as follows:
– Turn off the carrier gas inlet.
– Remove the plug (1) and the tube.
– Carefully introduce approx. 80 ml reagent to the reactor
through the port using a syringe and a tube.
– Replace the plug and the tube.
