5.13 Up/Down System
WARNING!
Before performing service near moving parts such as
blades, pulleys, motors, belts and chains, first turn the key switch to
the OFF (#0) position and remove the key. If the key is turned on and
moving parts activated, serious injury may result.
WARNING!
Disconnect and lockout power before performing any ser-
vice to the electrical system. For battery-powered equipment, discon-
nect the negative battery terminal cable. For AC-powered equipment,
follow the lockout procedure provided in the safety section (
). Failure to do so may result in injury and/or electrical system
damage.
Adjust the up/down chain tension as needed. Measure chain tension with the head all the
way to the top of the vertical mast. Secure the head with a chain at the top. Find the chain
adjusting bolt at the bottom of the mast. Use the adjustment nut to adjust the bolt until the
center of the chain can be deflected 3/4” (1.9cm) forward with a 5 lb. (2.3 Kg) deflection
force.
WARNING!
Always secure the saw head with a 5/16" chain with at
least 1900 lbs. working load capacity before adjusting the up/down
chain. The cutting head may fall, causing severe injury or death.
CAUTION!
Do not over-tension the chain. Over-tensioning the chain
may lead to early failure of the gear reducer.
