3.17 Power Feed
1.
Adjust the power feed belt as needed. When the power feed belt gets loose, it will begin slipping. This causes
the carriage to not move forward when cutting. To retighten the belt:
See Figure 3-16.
Remove the four cover bolts and belt cover and measure the belt tension. The belt should be
tightened so there is 1/8" (3 mm) deflection with a 7 lb. (3.2 Kg) deflection force. To adjust the belt tension,
loosen the four motor mount bolts. Place a wrench on the jam nut and turn the adjustment bolt clockwise to
tighten the belt. Retighten the motor bolts and replace the feed motor cover.
2.
Adjust the power feed chain as needed. Measure the power feed chain tension with the saw head all the way
toward the front of the mill. Use the two lock nuts at the rear of the mill to tighten or loosen the power feed
chain. Adjust the chain until it measures 7 to 8 inches (17.8 to 20.3 cm) from the top of the top rail at its lowest
point.
CAUTION!
Do not overtighten the feed chain. Damage to the power feed
motor may result.
