3.11 Up/Down System
Adjust the up/down chain tension as needed. Measure chain tension with the head all the
way to the top of the vertical mast. Secure the carriage with a chain at the top. Find the
chain adjusting bolt at the bottom of the mast. Loosen the nut on the bolt and move the
sprocket down until there is about 1" (2.5 cm) total deflection in the center of the chain
with a 5 lb. (2.3 Kg) deflection force.
DANGER! Always secure the cutting head with a 5/16”
chain with at least 1900 lbs. working load capacity before
adjusting the up/down chain. The cutting head may fall,
causing severe injury or death.
