Leakage
WARNING
Injury Hazard: Always put on gloves and safety goggles when you
do work on hot components. When you open the screw plugs,
fuel can come out as a spray and cause injury.
If the level switch (18) (LS3426A) has activated an alarm, do the procedure that
1) On the HP fuel pipe 3.29 (1,
) carefully loosen each of the drain screws (8)
approximately two turns.
2) Do a check to see if fuel flows out or not as follows:
a) If fuel flows out, the related HP fuel pipe (1) is defective.
b) If fuel does not flow out, tighten the drain screws (8).
3) On the HP fuel pipe (6), carefully loosen each of the drain screws (9)
approximately two turns.
4) Do a check to see if fuel flows out or not as follows:
a) If fuel flows out, the related HP fuel pipe (6) is defective.
b) If fuel does not flow out, tighten the drain screws (9).
5) On the HP fuel pipe (5), carefully loosen each of the drain screws (10)
approximately two turns.
6) Do a check to see if fuel flows out or not as follows:
a) If fuel flows out, the related HP fuel pipe (5) is defective.
b) If fuel does not flow out, tighten the drain screws (10).
7) On the HP fuel pipe (4), carefully loosen each of the drain screws (11)
approximately two turns.
8) Do a check to see if fuel flows out or not as follows:
a) If fuel flows out, the related HP fuel pipe (4) is defective.
b) If fuel does not flow out, tighten the drain screws (11).
9) To replace the defective HP fuel pipe (see
Faults in the High Pressure
Fuel System, paragraph 3.3.5 and the Maintenance Manual 8752
−
1).
WARNING
Injury Hazard: The fuel system has high pressure. Replace a
defective HP fuel pipe only when the engine has stopped.
Note: If the engine must continue to operate, use the tool 94555 to cut out the
related fuel pump at the zero position to stop the fuel supply (see 0515
−
1
Faults in the High Pressure Fuel System).
10) If necessary, replace the defective HP fuel pipe (see the Maintenance
Manual 8752-1).
Note: If the HP fuel pipe cannot be replaced immediately, the related fuel pump
must be cut out (see
Cutting Out and Cutting In of the Fuel Pump).
When a fuel pump is cut out, operate the engine only at decreased load
(see
