2.2
Personnel qualifications
Personnel must:
ƒ
Be instructed about locally applicable regulations governing accident prevention.
ƒ
Have read and understood the installation and operating instructions.
Personnel must have the following qualifications:
ƒ
Electrical work: Electrical work must be performed by a qualified electrician.
ƒ
Installation/dismantling work: The installation/dismantling must be carried out by a
qualified technician who is trained in the use of the necessary tools and fixation
materials.
ƒ
The product must be operated by persons who are instructed on how the complete
system functions.
ƒ
Maintenance tasks: The technician must be familiar with the use of operating fluids
and their disposal.
Definition of “qualified electrician”
A qualified electrician is a person with appropriate technical education, knowledge and
experience who can identify
and
prevent electrical hazards.
The operator must confirm and ensure the field of authority, the competence and the
monitoring of the personnel. If the personnel do not possess the necessary knowledge,
they must be trained and instructed. If required, this can be carried out by the product
manufacturer at the operator’s request.
2.3
Electrical work
ƒ
Have electrical work carried out by a qualified electrician.
ƒ
When connecting to the local power supply system, comply with the nationally ap-
plicable guidelines, standards and regulations as well as specifications issued by
the local energy supply companies.
ƒ
Before commencing work, disconnect the product from the mains and secure it
against being switched on again.
ƒ
Give personnel training on how to establish the electrical connection and the
methods for switching off the product.
ƒ
Protect the electrical connection with a residual-current device (RCD).
ƒ
Observe the technical information in these installation and operating instructions
as well as on the rating plate.
ƒ
Earth the product.
ƒ
Comply with the manufacturer’s specifications when connecting the product to
electrical switching systems.
ƒ
Have a defective connection cable replaced immediately by a qualified electrician.
ƒ
Never remove operating elements.
ƒ
Comply with the specifications on electro-magnetic compatibility when using
electronic start-up controllers (e.g. soft starter or frequency converter). If required,
take into account special measures (shielded cables, filters, etc.).
2.4
Transport
ƒ
Wear protective equipment:
–
safety gloves for protection against cuts
–
safety shoes
–
sealed safety goggles
–
safety helmet (when using lifting equipment)
ƒ
Only use legally specified and approved lifting gear.
ƒ
Select the lifting gear based on the prevailing conditions (weather, attachment
point, load etc.).
ƒ
Always attach the lifting gear to the designated attachment points (lifting eyes).
ƒ
Position the lifting equipment in a way that ensures stability during use.
ƒ
When using lifting equipment, a second person must be present to coordinate the
procedure if required (e.g. if the operator’s field of vision is blocked).
ƒ
Persons must not stand underneath suspended loads. Do
not
move loads over
workplaces where people are present.
