Notes
– The mobile sends a measurement report to the base station every SACCH
reporting period (= 104 TDMA frames). In that measurement report, the
mobile informs the base station at what power level and with what signal
quality it can receive the base station.
Furthermore, the measurement report also gives the channel numbers of
neighbouring cells the mobile can receive and the RF power level they come
in at the mobile.
– Based on the measurement report, a base station can decide to which neigh-
bouring cell it should hand over the mobile if the radio connection gets
worse.
– A SACCH reporting period is approx. 480 ms long.
– The current MS power level, the mobile has been commanded to use, can be
seen and altered in the parameters section of this menu.
