OVERVIEW
The POCKETALKER ULTRA is a versatile, high quality assistive listening device designed to
improve communications in difficult listening situations. The POCKETALKER ULTRA delivers
clear, distinct sound, while its large, manageable controls provide for easy operation.
Use the POCKETALKER ULTRA to improve listening on a one-to-one basis, in small group
situations, while listening to a speaker in large room.
When to use the Pocketalker Ultra and when to use the SoundPlus?
The silver-colored
Pocketalker Ultra PKT D1
is a personal amplifier device that is NOT connected to the Courtroom’s sound
system. It picks up and amplifies the sounds coming into the mini microphone that is plugged into the
Pocketalker Ultra mic
jack
. The
Pocketalker Ultra
does NOT require any other equipment other than fresh AAA batteries, the detachable
microphone and the user’s preference of either the headphones or T-Coil neckloop.
The black-colored
SoundPlus
WIR RX-22-4
is a 4-ch IR receiver that is designed for use with the Courtroom’s sound
system. It picks up whatever is spoken into the courtroom’s microphones with the exception of the Nomad E-Podium Sound
System and jury deliberation rooms. The
SoundPlus
device requires the courtroom’s sound system to be turned on, fresh
AAA batteries and the user’s preference of either the headphones or T-Coil neckloop. The IR Emitters are already installed
in the courtrooms and jury assembly room.
For the jury deliberation rooms, contact Court Admin to have them set up the
Portable Assisted Listening System
(PALS).
The PALS consists of a
Williams Sound IR Transmitter
with a microphone and four
SoundPlus IR Receivers
. PALS is
completely compatible with the courtroom system.
GETTING STARTED WITH THE POCKETALKER ULTRA
1.
Plug the microphone into the “
MIC
” jack and the earphone or headphone into the “
EARPHONE
” jack.
2.
Put on the earphone or headphone.
3.
Turn on the POCKETALKER ULTRA by turning the
Volume Control
counter-clockwise. The red “
on
” power
indicator light on the top of the unit should be lit.
4.
Adjust the
volume
up or down according to your preferences.
5.
Adjust the
tone
according to your preferences. Turning the
Tone Control
fully clockwise boosts the high frequency
gain by 11 dB at 5 kHz. Turning the tone control fully counterclockwise boosts the low frequency response.
NOTE:
The Power On/Off light on top of unit will flash
RED
when battery is low
.
LISTENING IN CONVERSATIONS
The POCKETALKER ULTRA picks up sounds and boosts them according to the volume you’ve set. For best results, place
or hold the POCKETALKER ULTRA’s microphone aimed at or as close as possible to the person who is speaking.
