5.4.15 Output Transformer Secondary Connections
Examine the secondary leads from the two output transformers. There are four wires from each
device. Black is common and the other three leads provide for 4, 8, or 16 Ω outputs. In order to
optimize the amplifier feedback circuit, only the 8 Ω output is made available at the rear panel
terminals.
– Find the secondary leads from the right channel output transformer (T1). Trim the leads to
comfortably reach the right channel speaker PWB. Attach a quick-disconnect connector to
each of the four leads and the transformer ground lug wire.
– Find the secondary leads from the left channel output transformer (T1). Trim the leads to
comfortably reach the left channel speaker PWB. Attach a quick-disconnect connector to
each of the four leads and the transformer ground lug wire.
– Find the black common lead from the right channel output transformer. Connect the
terminal to the T1com post on the right channel speaker PWB.
– Find the green 4 Ω lead from the right channel output transformer. Connect the terminal
to the 4ohm post on the right channel speaker PWB.
– Find the yellow 8 Ω lead from the right channel output transformer. Connect the terminal
to the 8ohm post on the right channel speaker PWB.
– Find the white 16 Ω lead from the right channel output transformer. Connect the terminal
to the 16ohm post on the right channel speaker PWB.
– Find the black #22 case ground wire from the right channel output transformer. Connect
the terminal to the available GND post on the right channel PWB.
– Find the black common lead from the left channel output transformer. Connect the
terminal to the T1com post on the left channel speaker PWB.
– Find the green 4 Ω lead from the left channel output transformer. Connect the terminal to
the 4ohm post on the left channel speaker PWB.
– Find the yellow 8 Ω lead from the left channel output transformer. Connect the terminal to
the 8ohm post on the left channel speaker PWB.
