1. GENERAL
1.1 Document Purpose
This document describes the Westell
r
DBMA200-01 Single-
Position DS3 Mounting, shown in Figure 1. See Table 1 for
information concerning other models in the same product fami-
ly.

Hereafter, the DBMA200-01 Single Position Mounting will be
referred to as the 200-01 Mounting".
1.2 Document Status
Revision B changed the module type from a 200 MECHAN-
ICS
r
to a Slim Mechanics module. Revision C updated the
CPR and bar code. Revision D clarifies the product’s ability to
support a +24Vdc power source.
1.3 Product Purpose and Description
The 200-01 Mounting is a wall mountable, single-position mount-
ing for Slim Mechanics DS3 modules, such as Westell Models
522-XX. The mounting provides an automatic cut-thru feature that
maintains transmission continuity when a module is removed from
its slot. The unit is mounted for front access, utilizing minimal wall
space. Input and output connections to/from the unit are made via
BNC connectors. Power, ground and network connections are lo-
cated inside the assembly behind the removable cover.
Power for the assembly and the unit installed is derived from a
22 to 56Vdc power source (-48V is typical, but +24Vdc also may
be used to power the mounting). See Paragraph 3.4 for connec-
tions. Connections are also provided for a back-up power
source. An Alarm output is provided for external reporting of a
power alarm condition.

1.4 Product Mounting
The mounting, along with the appropriate plug-in, provides an
interface between a DS3 facility and customer or network equip-
ment. When installed on a customer premises, the 200-01
Mounting is typically located after a DS3 Multiplexer system, on
the network side of the demarcation point between the network
and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). The automatic cut-
thru feature allows addition or removal and replacement of
modules while maintaining service continuity.

1.5 Product Features
The 200-01 Mounting offers the following features.
