General safety messages appear in the Safety Messages section. Specific safety messages are located
in appropriate sections of the manual where a potential hazard may occur if the instructions or
procedures are not followed.
Personal Safety
A signal word “DANGER”, “WARNING”, or “CAUTION” is used with the safety alert symbol.
Safety signs with signal word “DANGER”, “WARNING”, or “CAUTION” are located near specific
hazards.
Machine or Property Damage
The signal word ˆNOTICE˜ is not used with a safety alert symbol and is followed by specific
instructions.
Decals with the signal word
ˆNOTICE˜
are located near specific areas where machine or property
damage may occur.
DANGER indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided, will result in
death or serious injury.
WARNING indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided, could result
in death or serious injury.
CAUTION indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided, could result
in minor or moderate injury.
This is the safety alert symbol. This symbol is used in combination with an
exclamation mark or other symbols to alert you to the potential for bodily
injury or death.
NOTICE
indicates information considered important, but not hazard related.
It is used to inform about possible machine and/or property damage.
This symbol indicates that machine damage may occur if proper procedures
are not followed, or at least one part of the machine is not operating correctly.
Shutting down machine may not be necessary, but some maintenance may be
required.
