3.3.8 VRRP
NOTE:
VRRP configuration page is only available in the IE-SW-L3-SL28M model.
VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) is a protocol that allows to group several Layer 3
switches/Routers as a unique Virtual Router that will have a common virtual IP address that should
be used as default gateway of all the hosts connected to that network. In that group of routers one will
take the role of Master and the others will be the backup ones. By enabling this protocol, all the hosts
of the network will have high availability (redundancy) in their default gateway connection. Besides
the redundancy, thanks to this protocol is also possible to share the traffic load by having different
groups with different Master/Backup routers.
The parameters described below have to be configured to enable VRRP in the IE-SW-L3-SL28M.
