16.6.4 Flame Control
This de v ice w ill check for both pilot flame and main
flame w ithin the b u rner. When a flame signal from the
pilot flame is a v ailable, it w ill allo w the main gas v al v e
to open.
All models u se a flame rod to detect the flame
(bet w een 6 to 8 Vdc).
If a pilot flame is not present, the electrical signal
cannot be sent and the pilot b
u rner gas v al v e w ill
close. The relay is eq u ipped w ith a 10-second trial for
ignition. If ignition does not occ u r, the flame
safeg u ard relay w ill locko u t, it w ill reset u pon po w er
restoration. (See the Tro u ble-Shooting G u ide - Page
79, Section 23 )
16.6.5 Dischar g e Temperature Sensor
This de v ice senses the discharge temperat u re of the
air at the blo w er. The discharge temperat u re sensor
reports the discharge temperat u re to the temperat u re
control amplifier w hich mod u lates the b u rner to the
temperat u re set on the remote panel selector. Sho u ld
this system fail, the man u al high temperat u re limit
s w itch w ill t u rn the b u rner off. BMS-ready air
handlers do not come eq u ipped w ith this sensor and
m u st be field-s u pplied.
16.6.6 Positive Low Fire Start
This feat u re forces the b u rner to start in lo w fire
rather than high fire d u ring the air handler’s start- u p
seq u ence of operations. The b u rner maintains its lo w
fire setting for 10 seconds (as per timer setpoint)
before it begins to mod
u late.
