5.27 Encoder Cal
For material testing with B-scan or C-scan (see from
page 221), usually manually or automatically controlled
scanner inspection systems are used. These inspection
systems use a position encoder which can be verified
before use.
In most scanner inspection systems the probe is hold on
a bar. The probe is moved over the inspection area
along the bar. In addition, the bar can be moved to in-
spect a larger area with multiple parallel inspection
tracks.
The moving direction of the probe is the scan axis. The
moving direction of the bar is the index axis.
Before starting the verification you have to set the pa-
rameters of the scanner system.
– Slide the sidebar from the left edge into the screen
(see page 83).
– Set the parameters according to the scanner system
you are using.
