Connecting AC Mains to the HPSA
5.3 CONNECTING AC MAINS TO THE HPSA
The input voltage to the HPSA is a universal auto-sensing 120 - 240 VAC. The input
voltage should be connected to a 20 Amp (maximum) fuse or circuit breaker. Additionally,
a readily accessible disconnect device must be installed.
A penetration hole for AC Mains power on the left side of the cabinet is required to allow
for fitting conduit from the outside, using a NEMA-rated fitting.
1. Ensure the AC power source is off.
2. Connect one end of the AC wiring from the AC power source.
3. Penetrate the HPSA-7100-R cabinet. Refer to Figure 5.12, “AC Power
Penetration Location.” and.Section 4.5, Cabinet Penetrations for more
information.
BEFORE CONNECTING AC POWER, ENSURE THE POWER BUTTON TO
THE PDB IS OFF AND THE AC POWER SOURCE HAS BEEN POWERED
DOWN; FAILURE TO TURN OFF THE POWER MAY RESULT IN SHOCK
OR POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE. THE LIGHT ON THE RED POWER
SWITCH DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN AC POWER IS APPLIED TO
THE CABINET. THE RED BUTTON IS NOT A POWER INDICATOR.
The HPSA AC connection point accepts 10 to 16 AWG wire. Follow all local
and national codes and standards.
Connect to a circuit protected by a maximum 20 AMP fuse or circuit breaker.
A readily accessible disconnect device must be provided.
