Installing the Speaker Array
For Omni-directional Mounting:
a. Position the speakers facing opposite directions around the pole, allowing the
extension cable to drop through the siren recess (hanging down).

b. Secure the speakers to each other using the hexagon head bolts installed in
step 5, position the hexagon nuts, flat washers, and split-lock washers onto the
hexagon bolt.
c. Ensure the gap between the speaker edges, as shown in Figure 3.7, are the
equal on each side of the pole (the gap will vary depending on the size of the
pole); tighten the hexagon nuts.
The HPSA and its associated speakers has been designed to operate on the
principle of a coupled Line-Array. Proper positioning of the speakers is critical
to maximize acoustic coupling while minimizing any phase cancellation of the
audio signal.
In a
Uni-Directional configuration: If more than one pair of Speakers are
mounted to a single pole, the speakers must be aligned properly, facing the
same direction.
In a
Omni-Directional configuration: Multiple sets of speakers must be
aligned facing the same direction; with each paired set facing 180 degrees
apart.
Failure to properly position the speakers will result in a degraded signal.
Adequately tighten the hexagon head bolts evenly, securing the
speakers to their mount. If not tightened, speakers may loosen and
cause damage to equipment.
