5. Carefully grasp the circuit boards on the top and bottom of the ion guide,
and remove the guide from the adaptor housing.
Cleaning the ion guide assembly
Required materials
•
Chemical-resistant, powder-free gloves.
•
Glass-fiber pen.
•
500-mL measuring cylinder or appropriately sized glass vessel in which
to completely immerse the ion guide when cleaning. Use only glassware
not previously cleaned with surfactants.
•
Length of small diameter PEEK or PTFE tubing appropriately sized for
suspending the ion guide in the glass vessel when cleaning.
•
HPLC-grade (or better) methanol.
•
Formic acid.
•
Ultrasonic bath.
Caution:
To avoid damage to the ion guide assembly when
removing it from the source assembly, do not grasp the ion guide
by the metal ion guide lens plates. Instead, grasp the circuit
boards on the top and bottom of the device.
