Operating in Dual APPI/APCI mode 3-17
To obtain ion beams and tune the instrument for dual APPI/APCI mode
1. On the MassLynx Tune window, click Ion Mode > APcI+ or Ion Mode >
APPI+.
2. Click Options > Multiple ion modes > Dual APPI/APcI.
3. On the APPI+/APcI+ source tab, Function 1 Ion Mode drop-down list,
click APPI.
4. Obtain an ion beam and tune the instrument for APPI mode.

Tip:
The Tune window APPI+/APcI+ Source tab APCI Voltages frame is
not used at this stage.
5. On the Tune window, select Function 2.
6. For Function 2, enter the same values for Mass, Span, and Gain as those
entered for Function 1.
7. In the Function 2 Ion Mode drop-down list, click APcI.
Caution:
To avoid damage to the UV lamp when operating in
dual APPI/APCI mode, ensure that the UV lamp does not touch
the dual APPI/APCI corona pin.
