. Also, optimize the UV lamp position, and
adjust the Tune window Source tab Repeller (kV) parameter, to give the
maximum peak intensity.
Operating in APCI mode
Required materials
•
Chemical-resistant, powder-free gloves
•
Lint-free cloth
•
Methanol or isopropyl alcohol
•
Needle-nose pliers
To prepare the source for operation in APCI mode
1. If the Combined APPI/APCI Source is not already fitted on the
instrument, install it as described in
.
2. Fully retract the lamp drive assembly.
3. If the instrument has been in use:
a. On the MassLynx Tune window, click Press for Standby, and
confirm that the instrument status indicator is red.
b. Wait for three minutes for the desolvation gas to cool the probe.
Caution:
Do not to touch the repeller electrode with the probe:
• A short circuit to the electrode would prevent proper ion
detection.
• The probe is hot and may damage the UV lamp assembly.
Caution:
To avoid damage to the UV lamp when preparing for
operating in APCI mode, ensure that the lamp drive assembly is
fully retracted from the source enclosure.
