Materials of Construction and
Compatible Solvents
Requirement:
The lists of solvents presented in this appendix are not comprehensive. Some
solvents might be chemically compatible with the ACQUITY QDa Detector though they are not
referenced in the lists. Some solvents that are referenced in the lists but used at higher
concentrations than specified might also be compatible with the instrument. Where solvents are
used at higher concentrations than specified in the lists, it is important that you determine whether
their use is compatible with the instrument.
C.1
Preventing contamination
For information about preventing contamination, refer to
Controlling Contamination in Ultra
Performance LC/MS and HPLC/MS Systems
(part number 715001307), which you can download

C.2
Running Hexane and THF with the ACQUITY QDa
Detector
Warning:
To avoid the harmful physical effects associated with the inhalation of biohazards, toxic
substances, or corrosive substances, when confirming the integrity of the mass spectrometer's
source, address any and all safety issues raised by the contents of this appendix.
Warning:
Hexane is a neurotoxin, and THF can irritate eyes, skin and mucous membranes,
and cause harmful neurological effects. If you use either or both of these volatile solvents,
locate your ACQUITY QDa Detector inside a fume hood or walk-in chamber to minimize
exposure to harmful solvent vapors.
