6.7 Set Up the Machine
IMPORTANT! Park the log splitter on a level, dry work area
free of debris and other objects.
Position the log splitter so the prevailing wind blows engine
exhaust away from the operator.
If a tow vehicle is available, leaving the splitter
attached to it provides greater stability.
1.
Put the log splitter next to the wood to be split.
2.
Do one of the following:
• If the machine is not attached to a tow vehicle, do steps
3 to 9.
• If the machine is attached to a tow vehicle, do steps 6
to 9.

Remove the snap lock pin and lower the jockey wheel
assembly. Insert the snap lock pin.
4.
Turn the trailer jack to set the jockey wheel assembly on the
ground.
5.
If the ground is uneven, remove snap lock pin on the jockey
wheel axle, turn the wheels so the log splitter does not roll.
Insert the snap lock pin.
6.
Block the wheels so the machine is stable.
7.
Make sure that working area is clear of stones, branches or
other obstacles.
8.
Precut logs to desired block size, ready to load onto splitter
bed.
9.
Determine where the split wood is going to be piled. Make
sure that the location does not interfere with loading the log
splitter.
