9.5 Clean the Engine Air Filter
IMPORTANT! Operating the engine without an air filter, or
with a damaged air filter, can allow dirt to enter the engine,
causing rapid engine wear. This type of damage is not
covered by warranty.
Clean the air filter after every 200 hours of operation or
annually.
A dirty air filter can restrict air flow to the carburetor, reducing
the engine performance. If the engine is operated in very dusty
areas, clean the air filter more often than specified
.
1.
Loosen the two air-filter cover fasteners.
2.
Remove the cover.
3.
Remove the air filter.
4.
Gently tap the air filter on a hard surface to loosen and
remove dust and debris.
5.
If the air filter is excessively dirty or damaged, replace it
with a new air filter.
6.
Install the air filter in the engine.
7.
Install the cover.
8.
Tighten the two air-filter cover fasteners.

9.6 Replace the Drive Belt
IMPORTANT! After the drive belt is replaced, set the
correct tension, and align the engine and rotor sheave.
The machine has a clutch mounted on the engine shaft that
drives the rotor sheave. When the drive belt is loose or in
disrepair, the ability of the engine to efficiently drive the rotor
may be affected. Therefore, it is important to check the drive
belt condition and tension on a regular basis. Replace the drive
belt if it is frayed, cracked, or worn.
1.
On the side of the machine, remove the drive-belt guard.
2.
Loosen (do not remove) the four bolts (1) (two on each
side) that secure the engine mount to the machine frame.
3.
Turn the belt tensioning bolt (2) counterclockwise to loosen
the drive belt tension.
4.
Loosen the tension until you can slide the engine over and
remove the belt.
5.
Install the new drive belt.
6.
Slide the engine back to apply tension to the drive belt.
7.
Hand tighten the four engine mount bolts.
8.
Set the drive belt tension.
For instructions, see
Set the Drive Belt Tension on page
9.
Align the drive belt.
