12.3.2 Digital Output Modules
The digital output modules provide one bit as the process value per channel that
indicates the status of the respective channel. These bits are mapped into the
output process image.
Some digital output modules have an additional diagnostic bit per channel in the
input process image. The diagnostic bit detects faults (e.g., wire breakage,
overloads and/or short circuits). For some I/O modules, the data bits also have
be evaluated with the set diagnostic bit.
If analog output modules are in the node, the digital data is grouped in bytes and
added after the analog output data in the output process image. 1 sub-index is
assigned for each 8 bit.
Each output channel occupies one instance in the “Discrete Output Point Object”
(Class 0x66).
12.3.2.1 1-Channel Digital Output Modules with Input Data
In addition to the process value bit in the output process image, the digital output
modules also provides 1 bit that is represented in the input process image. This
status image shows “Manual operation”.
