Many thanks for adding the VOX COOLTRON VibraVOX/Duel Over-
drive
pedal to your rig. Our main goal is to provide you with the most
toneful products anywhere and we believe you’ll enjoy using these pedals
as much as we enjoyed designing them!
What is COOLTRON?
COOLTRON
is the name that we have given to a new way of using preamp type tubes
at low voltage. In our case we chose a 12AU7.
VibraVOX
The idea behind the VIBRAVOX was to incorporate two “must have” modulation ef-
fects in one. Namely VIBRATO and TREMOLO which add their own distinct flavour to
any guitar rig. Each effect offers independent speed controls and by combining these
two effects in one compact pedal, a number of possibilities are available.
Firstly, the unit can be configured as a tremolo-only pedal with selectable speeds. Sec-
ondly, as a vibrato-only pedal with selectable speeds, and lastly, as was the original
concept, you can have two completely independent effects. What’s more, the pedal
automatically ramps between speeds, adding a taste of that unmistakable “rotating-
speaker” sound.
TREMOLO*
The VIBRAVOX features a high quality tremolo effect, which offers superb sonic per-
formance and more features than any other pedal on the market. The RATIO and
SKEW controls allow the user to tailor the sound precisely to their own particular
preference. From an effect with all the charm of a vintage valve-driven amp circuit, to
an ultra-aggressive, modern sound that goes far and above what you might be used to
in a Tremolo stomp box. This pedal can handle both extremes, and everything in be-
tween!
VIBRATO*
The name Vibravox was used on the first vibrato units that were add-on’s for early
VOX amplifiers that didn’t have vibrato as a standard feature. This circuit was further
refined and became the standard Vib/Trem circuit that was used in vintage VOX AC15s
and many versions of the AC30s. The unique VOX vibrato effect has become world-
renowned as it was the un-named predecessor to many of the legendary 60s and 70s
Vibrato-Phase circuits. We’ve taken the same concept from our amplifiers and placed
it in a stomp box. The highest quality components have been used in all the right
places in order to keep this true to the all-valve design of the original.
The Vibrato and Tremolo effects also benefits from the additional RATIO and SKEW
controls, allowing you to add a new dimension to your sound.
*What’s the difference between Tremolo and Vibrato?
I’m glad you asked. A tremolo effect occurs by varying the volume of the signal. You’ll
notice that your sound “disappears” and then “reappears” while you’re playing. A vi-
brato effect modulates the pitch of the signal. You’ll notice that you always “hear” your
sound when vibrato is selected and this is why it is a more subtle effect than tremolo.
Duel Overdrive
The Duel Overdrive builds on the success of the Big Ben Overdrive, expanding the
design to fit in two fully independent channels. What’s more we’ve added a low-end
bass boost function for modern slamming tones – all assignable!
Used in conjunction with a clean amp, the Duel Overdrive provides fully functional
channel switching, with a host of classic and modern tones on offer. Alternatively, add
to your existing pedal setup and benefit from an unmistakably “real” valve overdrive.

COOLTRON
（クールトロン）とはVOXが独自に開発した、
プリアンプ用電圧
増幅管12AU7の新しい低電圧駆動テクノロジーです。
VibraVOX について
VibraVOXの基本コンセプトは、エレキ・ギターにとって最も基本的な2つの
モジュレーション・エフェクトである、
ビブラートとトレモロを1つに収めたこと
です。このため、2つのエフェクトはスピードを別々に設定でき、
また１つに入っ
ていることによって他では得られない効果が可能になりました。
2つのスピード設定が可能なトレモロとして、あるいはビブラートとして、そし
てオリジナルのコンセプトである、
トレモロとビブラートを切り替えながら使用
するという3つの使い方が可能です。また、2つのスピードの設定が異なる場
合、そのスピードの変化は徐々に起き、
ロータリー・スピーカーの様な効果を作
ることができます。
トレモロ
VibraVOXのトレモロは優れた音質に加えて他のトレモロよりも多彩なコ
ントロールが可能です。RATIOとSKEWのコントロールによって好みのサ
ウンドの設定をすることができます。ビンテージ・バルブ・アンプに搭載さ
れているようなトレモロだけでなく、
このサイズのエフェクターからは想像
できないような超アグレッシブな効果まで幅広いエフェクトが可能です。
ビブラート
VibraVOXという名前は、初期のVOXアンプの中でトレモロが標準搭載さ
れていなかった機種に対して、後付でトレモロ効果を付け加えるために作
られたユニットに由来します。この回路はその後改良され、
VOX AC15や
様々な年代のAC30にスタンダードな「Vib/Trem」回路として搭載され
ました。
このユニークな回路は1960年代の様々なギター・アンプの回路に応用さ
れました。あまり知られていませんが、
この位相変調のビブラートはギター・
アンプの世界では先駆的な回路なのです。
このVOXアンプのオリジナルの全真空管回路を忠実に再現するために、
最
高品質の部品を使用し、
このサイズに組み込みました。
RATIO と SKEW のコントロールをもつビブラートとトレモロは、今まで
にない立体感あふれるサウンドにすることができます。
Duel Overdrive について
Duel Overdriveは好評をいただいている、COOLTRON Big Ben Overdrive
の回路を踏襲しながら2チャンネル構成に拡張したものです。
一段とモダンで重量感のある音色を演出するために、
チャンネルに割り当て可
能なローエンド・ベース・ブースト回路を付け加えました。
Duel Overdriveをクリーンに設定したアンプと組み合わせて使用すれば、
ヴィ
ンテージな歪とモダンな歪を備えた3チャンネル切り替え機能が実現できま
す。また現在使用されているエフェクターのセットアップにDuel Overdrive
加えることによって、
本物の真空管オーバー・ドライブ・サウンドを堪能してくだ
さい。
