ACTIVE
STATION
Maneuvering
Only shift between forward and astern at engine idle speed as shifting
at higher engine speeds can cause discomfort for those on board and
unnecessary strain on the drive/reverse gear or the engine to stop.
Attempting to shift when the engine speed is too high will automatically
result in the shift being delayed until the engine speed drops to approx-
imately 1,000 rpm.
Always follow this procedure when carrying out forward/reverse
maneuvering:
1. Reduce engine speed to idling and let the boat lose most of its
speed.
WARNING! Never shift to reverse when the boat is planing.
2. Move the reverse gear control lever quickly and firmly into the neu-
tral position. Wait for a moment.
3. Move the gear control lever quickly and firmly into astern, then in-
crease the speed.
IMPORTANT! If the boat has two engines, it is important that they
are both running during maneuvers astern (rearward movement),
otherwise water might get into the exhaust of the engine which is
not running.
Changing control position
Set the control in the neutral/idle position at the control position you are
about to leave. Check the control lever is in the same position in the
control position which is to be activated. Turn the ignition key to oper-
ating position (l) and activate the control position by pressing the com-
bined button/warning lamp “Active Station” which will then light up and
stay on.
If the lamp starts flashing it means the control position cannot be acti-
vated because a control is not in the neutral/idle position.
For safety reasons it is only possible to change the control point
with the control in the Neutral/Idle position.
