q
Before installing the top and bottom fuselage fairings, double-check that the cowl fits properly over the firewall. The cowl mounting
ring should slide over the firewall, but not fit too tightly. If it doesn't slide over the firewall, please follow the procedure below.

q
When you install the top and bottom fuselage fairings, make sure that the
front of the fairings are installed
behind
the firewall. Do not install the fuselage
fairings over the edges of the firewall.

q
Install the cowl after installing the fuselage fairings. When aligned properly,
the back edge of the cowl mounting ring should be butted up against the
front of the fuselage fairings. The cowl mounting screws are then threaded
through the cowl mounting ring and into the edge of the firewall/fuselage
q
If the cowl mounting ring does not slide over the firewall, lightly sand the
top and bottom curved edges of the firewall to match the curves of the cowl.
Remove small amounts of material at time and double-check the fit often to
ensure that you don't remove too much material.
IMPORTANT
It may be necessary to also lightly sand the inside edge of the
cowl mounting ring to remove any excess fiberglass resin that might interfere
with sliding the cowl mounting ring over the firewall.
