14.2 Cleaning the machine
●
●
●
Remove the ignition key and keep it in a
safe place.
●
●
First, remove accumulated clipping
deposits in the mowing deck housing
using a stick.
●
Clean the underside of the mowing
deck with water and a brush.
●
When cleaning the upper side of the
mowing deck, ensure that the V-belt
and toothed belt do not get wet – never
spray water into the openings in the
covers.
●
Clean the discharge chute using
running water and a brush when
removed and well away from the
machine.
●
Remove grass residues from the
mowing deck (upper and underside),
engine compartment and gearbox.
Clean the cooling ribs of the engine and
gearbox.
●
Clean the mowing blades with water
and a brush – under no circumstances
should you hit the mowing blades (e.g.
with a hammer) to loosen dirt.
●
Remove the grass catcher box and
clean using running water and a brush
well away from the machine. (
14.3 Cleaning the level sensor (grass
catcher box)
The level sensor (grass catcher box) may
become soiled when mowing wet or moist
grass. This results in impaired function.
By way of prevention, clean the level
sensor following each mowing operation or
each time the discharge chute is cleaned.
●
●
Remove the ignition key and keep it in a
safe place.
●
●
Remove the grass catcher box.
(
Using slight pressure, press level sensor
(grass catcher box) (1) downwards. When
doing so, it must move easily and a quiet
"clicking" of the switch must be audible.
After the level sensor is released, it must
automatically return upwards to the initial
position.
●
If the level sensor does not move easily
or is dirty, carefully clean it using a
brush – do not use water.
14.4 Checking the safety devices
Checking the brake switch:
●
Sit on the driver's seat.
Note
During the inspection by the
specialist dealer, the braking
function is checked and, if
necessary, the brakes are serviced.
Furthermore, all required
maintenance operations on the
gearbox are carried out.
Avoid damage to the machine.
Never spray water (high pressure
cleaner) onto engine components,
seals, electrical components
(battery, wiring harness, etc.) and
bearing points. This may result in
damage and expensive repairs.
Do not use aggressive cleaning
agents. These cleaners can
damage plastics and metals,
impairing the safe operation of your
VIKING machine. If you are unable
to remove the dirt with water using
a brush or a cloth, VIKING
recommends the use of a special
cleaner (e.g. STIHL special
cleaner).
Always remove the mowing deck
for cleaning and maintenance
operations.
Risk of injury!
The safety devices must only be
checked from the driver's seat.
No persons, particularly children, or
animals must be in the vicinity.
Proper functioning of the safety
devices must be checked at least
once a month.
Following longer periods without
use, for low-use machines or after
repairs, always check all safety
devices before using again.
