Installation Instructions
Turn power OFF to furnace & Fan
!
Remove existing air filter.
Wire the Electronic Air Purifier (EAP) to on-board
Certified Class 2 transformer or furnace control.
FIGURE 1, shows a typical terminal strip. Connect BLACK/WHITE STRIPE wire to
the “G” or “hot” 24 vac terminal and the BLACK wire to the
“C”, common or
grounded terminal.
Use a Voltmeter to confirm 24 volt (not 110 volt) or unmarked terminals. Where
needed, a Viking® DefendRx® plug-in Certified Class 2 Transformer/adapter
(110vac-24vac) is available.
A grommet (fits a 7/16” hole) has been provided where the power cord needs to be
routed through the furnace/air handler cabinet
When wiring is completed, install DefendRx® in the filter rack or return air grille.
FIGURE 2 shows where to plug the power cord into the DefendRx®. Slip
DefendRx® in the filter rack or return air grille. Plug in. Close filter access door or
grille. Turn ON power to furnace and fan.
DefendRx® power indicator light beside the plug will illuminate.
For the best air cleaning efficiency, it is recommended the fan run continuously with the thermostat fan switch in
the
“ON”
vs.
“AUTO”
position.
This product complies with the maximum allowable concentration of ozone of 0.050 parts per million by volume
(ppmv) in a 24 h period. The Health Canada Guideline 2010 recommends that the maximum exposure limit, based
on an averaging time of 8 hours, be 0.020 ppmv or less when tested in an ASHRAE 52.2 conforming test duct.

WARNINGS
The air filter is not energized in the absence of air flow in the HVAC system.
CAUTION - THE AIR CLEANER SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED IN A SYSTEM WITH AIR FLOW LESS THAN 375 CFM, TO
ENSURE OZONE LEVELS ARE NOT EXCEEDED.
THIS AIR CLEANER SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED ON THE HOT-AIR SIDE OF DUCT-TYPE SYSTEMS.
The POWER to the Furnace/Air Handler
MUST BE TURNED OFF
whenever installing, removing, or replacing the
DefendRx® air cleaner.
Care should be taken to not let the DefendRx® power cord jack touch grounded or metal surfaces which could
result in damage to the transformer or electronics.
Failure to change the Media Pad on a 2-3-month basis could reduce airflow and cause damage to the heating and
cooling system.
Only qualified Electricians should perform electrical wiring.

media is used, no matter what the makers claim, we are forced to
decline your Lifetime Warranty.
