Regulated circuit
A regulated circuit is a sealed circuit between the
boiler and consumer (radiator, DHW cylinder, for
example) through which heating water flows. Regula-
ted circuits can be named individually.
The Vitotrol 350 enables the control of up to

Safety valve
A safety device that must be installed in the cold water
pipe by your heating contractor. The safety valve
opens automatically to prevent excess pressure in the
DHW cylinder.
Cylinder primary pump
Circulation pump for heating the DHW in the DHW cyl-
inder.
Drinking water filter
A device that removes solids from the water. The
drinking water filter is installed in the cold water pipe
upstream of the DHW cylinder or the instantaneous
water heater.

Time program
The time programs are used to specify how your heat-
ing system should operate at a given time.
Operating status
The operating status indicates how a component of
your heating system is being operated.
For example, the operating states for central heating
are differentiated according to their different tempera-
ture levels.
The times at which the operating status changes are
specified by you in the time program.
IP address
The IP address enables communication between the
subscribers of a computer network. This enables the
appliance to be uniquely addressed and reached. It is
unique within a single computer network and compara-
ble with a postal address.
Subnet mask
The subnet mask splits computer networks. It must be
the same for all devices/appliances connected to a
computer network. It determines which IP addresses
within a single computer network can be reached and
which IP addresses lie outside the network. It is com-
parable with the postal code of a postal address.
Gateway
A gateway connects various computer networks with
each other. If an IP address within a computer network
cannot be reached it will be contacted via the gateway.
DNS server
A name server converts addresses into IP addresses
that a computer can process. A name server can for
example convert the address
www.viessmann.com
into
a machine-readable IP address. The DNS server func-
tion is comparable with that of a directory enquiry serv-
ice. Example: You know the name and the postal
address of a person and would like to enquire into their
telephone number.

your Viessmann product.
